About this work
Board Certified is a 24″ × 24″ mixed-media collage carved from nine vintage vinyl records and other found objects. A tiny car loaded with surfboards becomes a playful symbol of freedom and adventure, blending travel imagery with surf culture. Each record is hand carved with a wood burning tool, giving the composition its crisp silhouettes and layered surface detail. Every record was chosen for its lyrical or thematic connection to hitting the road.
