About this work
The invitation was lovely. The answer is still no.
Invitation Declined is about nerve, boundaries, and the kind of woman who does not explain herself twice. The hat pulled low, the bandana over her face, and the revolver leveled straight at you give her a personality that is cool, deliberate, and completely unbothered by whatever you were hoping for.
Created from real vintage vinyl records, the black grooves shape the figure while the original labels add flashes of color and music history throughout the composition. From across the room, the portrait feels bold and graphic. Up close, the individual records begin to reveal themselves.
It is a little outlaw, a little old Hollywood, and absolutely not up for discussion.
